Title: A wonderful sight in the sky
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 07 September 2013, 19:04:59
It's that time of year again - nearing the end of the air display season. So, as we live close(ish) to Waddington/Conningsby/Scampton we get used to the sights and sounds of passing planes, both current RAF & BBMF.

I always get "inspired" by the sound of a Merlin engine - but it is something that happens on a regular basis around here.

So, imagine my delight when I looked out of the window to see the unmistakable silhouette of a Clipped Wing Spitfire  :y I say silhouette as it was banking steeply.

It then proceeded to give me a couple of circuits before flying back towards Conningsby. It seems that they use the towers of a couple of local Churches as waypoints and often do a circuit between them.

Uplifts the spirits I can tell you & makes you proud to be British  8)

Yes Rob some great sights and sounds in our skies these past weeks when the weather has been good. It was great also to see and hear old XH558 a couple of times recently, and there has been a DC3 cruising around lately..  :y
