Title: Door handle left in hand
Post by: Muroman on 09 September 2013, 15:40:20
So, I got to my car from work and tried to open door but my door handle broke and now I got to open the door from passenger side...
So the questions are how much I need to take things off from the door? Does anyone have pictures off the handle mechanism?
I don't have carage in my use right now so when I start the project I probably need to finish it at same day if I need to take the lock off?
Is it possible to only change the handle?

Yes and you can swap the original key barrel over.

I'm sure there are no pictures of this, but when you get the door card off & the plastic membrane, you'll see that it is all quite easy & straight forward.  :y :y You just need to find a handle of the correct colour.  ;)

Happened to me a few years back when the door frame was frosted up and I was being inpatient, got fed up keep climbing over passenger side, so ended end cable tie'ing some cable to the inside handle to the back of the door so I could open it from the drivers rear door.  Down side to that was it give me an excuse not to fix for a week or two.

As said Door Card off and replace the Plastic bits.  :y

??? Plastic?  ??? It was an alloy section of the handle's hinge that broke on mine

May be due to Weetabix :D
But ye I think I start from car scrap yards trying to get hold of same color handle :) Tomorrow :)

And here's picture of the broken part and I think it's plastic.
