Second chimney on the house is giving me grief......and wet interior walls. :( :(
With both stacks needing sorting, I'm over £800 down in total.... :( :(
I think the OOF forum kitty should help me out....... ::) ::) ::) :)

Flashing causing issues?
Get yah ladders out, get up there and get it fixed
-
Chimney pot tax? Now that would be a nice earner for Osborne.
Two stacks, 12 pots per stack. £200 a year per pot?

After uncovering the chimney breast I found a bricked-up fireplace, which is offset because of another fireplace one floor down. I'm guessing that this was original to the house in 1891. :y
It might be worth making a 'feature ' out of it. :)

This option sounds attractive, Sir Tig :y :y..........Human remains less so. ;D ;D
Actually, I've taken a peek behind. It's full of builders rubble. :'(

That's probably why it's damp - the chimney needs to breath.
-
Indeed, a bricked up chimney would normaly have an airvent
-
Surely not. The water is coming through the ceiling some eight feet above and running down the chimney.

£400? Fish'n'chip money to a man as wealthy as yourself, surely?

I'm an impoverished Omega owner, with barely enough money for a pot to piss in.
Can you help me with the costs?:-* :-* :-*..........as you have enough spare cash ( £10,000) to buy a new Daewoo. ::) ::) :)

It sounds the mortar around the flashing has gone, dead easy fix.

Yes...... There are a few cracks in the chimney too, and the 'cap' also looks suspect.

'No more nails' ;D
Often chimneys tend to break their backs, especially if on the gable end of a property. Quite amazing how tall they are when you climb up - or count the bricks from the ground and do the maths.

Surely it's better to spend £10000 on a new car than to spend the same amount on repairs and maintenance on the omega car you have ?
-
Bet its the flashing that's given up,if you need someone to replace it properly pm me :y

It is, but I don't have £10,000. It must be great to be wealthy and live in Wakefield, having all the beautiful elegant girls there fall at your feet. :)
Life just doesn't get any better than that. :)
-
If you took all those dodgy Satellite Dish's pointing towards Sweden off the stack it may help!

Indeed. I am a very lucky man.

Denmark and Russia are better.......so I hear. ;D ;D

So are you going to make a feature out of that fireplace then Mr O or cover it up again? ??? It could look quite nice, especially as it's quite a small one and offset. 8)
Looks like it's in the servants quarters, up in the garret? :)

I can either go the salvage or reproduction route, Sir Tig.
I've only had a quick look, but a victorian reproduction fireplace comes in at about £300.
Servants?.... ;D ;D ;D I'm not made of money. :D ;)

That would be my other option, Mr TD. An original fireplace would be good. :y
