I have been told that my 2.5 V6 Auto Elite might have been owned by a member (or former member).
It's in Graphite Pearl, with a Romano mixer LPG conversion.
Previous owner lived in Brackley and sold it on with the engine in bits after trying to cure a bad tap !
Previous MOT was issued in Maldon September 2006.
Does she ring any bells ?

A few members I think - try Tunnie for starters

Strange purple colour, 2.5 Elite?

Yep --- sort of beetle shell hue
-
Ah yes -- all is revealed ;) Tunnies "project elite" or "shed on wheels" ----- tap is still as bad as ever -- found the sump had been smacked in so oil pick up was choked -- which didn't help -- but still no cure. Idle on gas rough again ---- maybe that earth again -- will have to check that.
Have sorted a few other niggles -- maybe GNU will rise again :y
-
Where did you get it from? IIRC, its was sold with the engine in bits?
-
right time to come clean i guess! :D
I sold it to a trader with known issues some time ago, they collected it on a trailer.
I sold the car as spares and repairs, as it exhausted my skill level to fix.
Can i ask where you got it from?
I sold it with standard 17" Elite Alloys, but your pictures seam to show it on CDX alloys?
-
Well -- I bought it from the guy who got it from Tunnie, along with free access to an X reg, same model and colour, to make 1 of the 2, as a project.
One had to go to the breakers and I decided to keep GNU alive ( for my sins! ).
Re-assembled the engine she came with (well my son in law did!) (most of it was there!). Can't get rid of the tap -- hoped getting the oil to flow back up there would have helped -- but no such luck! So -- sod it -- she is getting the younger engine (73k).
Idle crap on gas ( as you know) -- might be an earthing problem again -- wasn't going to look at that again until the new engine is in.
Tidied up the wiring, replaced split intake pipe, sorted mis-matched rear shocks, replaced faded mirror shell and re-sprayed both bumpers and spoiler as well as nicking a good wing from the X reg ( along with many other small items).
Drivers door check strap repaired.
Dave DND sorted the CD player, current wheels came from donor as I preferred them -- might change again soon.
She runs well on petrol -- apart from that tap ( which I swear disappeared for a few hundred yards on gas!).
Once the new engine is in place, try to sort the gas, then she'll have the irmy grille that is sitting in the garage and tints.
Far from being the shed that Tunnie referred to her as I think she will turn out just fine ;) . After all she has had the best putting her back together over the last couple of years ( Finlay, James, Tunnie, TB ). :y

The tap disappeared on gas for us, too ;D

Trouble is -- it didn't stay disappeared !!!! Still, with new (ish) lump it will be a moot point ( fingers and toes crossed)
TBH it was her colour that saved her from the scrappies too -- never seen it before and suddenly I had two to play with !

Once we got it into 3 figures ::)
I suspect some of the tappets have broken springs.
Did you change the exhaust?
-
I think an engine swap may be the best option for that, so if you can get a decent 2.5 to drop in, thats the way to go :y
How old is the engine you've got?
-
Engine I have to drop in is from an X reg 2.5 ( can't remember exact year ) with 73000 miles. The engine that came with her was an older version anyway --- so now the engine will "match".
Havn't even looked at the exhaust, Tunnie. Was it sold with the dodgy back box ? Might be another little job to add to the list ::)

Back box was blocked when i had it.
Might be worth getting a new one! :y

Could be the way to go ---- it'll be the bionic elite by the time she is finished ...."we can rebuild her"

One is unable, at this juncture, to think of a suitable reposte, so ....
BLEH !!! :P ;D
