Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 16 September 2013, 14:34:23
.....what is the going rate for a 53 plate 330CI manual from a garage

80,000 miles.......service history.

Cambelt problems?

I've just returned from a test drive and it felt as tight as a drum. :y

Not for myself, Henry.  Personally I think it's a hairdressers car.

However, Mrs Opti wants yet another car to replace her short-lived RX8. :-\ :-\

It will come with a new MOT, a full sevice stamped in the book , and 6 months tax.

He won't budge on £4495 though. :-\

My bro had a 330 from that vintage. Bloody expensive to run (oil was about £50 a litre, tyres were £300 a pop, and not repairable (and he had 2 punctures in 2 weeks after visiting me ;D)), but it was awfully quick, and a hoot to drive when it wasn't snowing (the TC prevented it moving in snow).

His was an Alpina one though, with (proven) better top end than an M3

as the famous word/sentence (whatever)  the car is as good as its owner(s) .. I have seen bimmers with galactic miles which are tip top.. and seen some with few miles in crap condition..  so it depends.. one warning , some of them have faulty vanos units and its expensive to repair..  also there are many other things that can go wrong.. so its a must that you see have to see its service papers..  also some of them crack from the rear axel connection points.. if you ask my opinion bring it to a bmw specialist  and lift up and examine below the car.. also connect it to computer and check other things.. will tell many thing and pay for check..
I have seen examples at 150K miles that you put a coin on engine at idle and the coin stays as it is :o

one  more, if you will pay that sum, E46 m3 also is worth checking as maintenance costs not very different..  but powerwise they are very very different.. only problem is clean examples are rare..  so get ready to empty the bank ;D but be warned once you drive them (m3) you will be addicted  ;D ;D

ps: remember you live only once and no one brings even a penny to other side ;D :y   (buy fot yourself)

I've just returned from a test drive and it felt as tight as a drum. :y

So its got about 40k left in it before the suspension needs doing. Cam cover seals and missfires are slightly better than omega but not much, single coil per plug and very expensive.

Spend the dosh in your omega and save money.

Not that expensive.. I seem to recall £45 ea. plus VAT for the M3, I imagine the 330 is the same coil..

Agreed, Mark.

However, a 3 litre  BMW will always be more expensive to buy than 3 litre Omega........unless you buy it from Robber Budden of course. ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

What I am saying is that for 5K you can get a great car which is much newer and cheaper to run.

If you want something interesting to drive than an Alfa or something along those lines would be worth a punt (there not as bad these days as they used to be)

Always wanted to own an Alfa. My  father owned four in his lifetime, along with three Citroen DS.  :y

The big thirsty V12 models can be picked up surprisingly cheap over here in Blighty, Cem.

I'n not sure about the cost in sunny Turkey though. ;)

Start at around £4-6,000 here.

How about we buy them, then export them to Turkey where you sell them on for a big profit?

With cars so expensive in Turkey it sounds like a plan to me, Cem. :y
