Nothing new under the sun. :-\
When I was at school in the early seventies there was about half a dozen 13, 14 and 15 year old girls up the duff.
It's been the same since the dawn of time.

Indeed, and the only difference not that long ago was that such an event was kept as an ultra secret by the immediate family, with often the new born baby being "adopted" by the girls mother or another, older, relative. Others where sent away to the "institutions" for bad girls and their babies taken away for immediate adoption. :( :( :(

Yep......You have an excellent grasp of social history, Lizzie. :-* :-* :-*
It was only as recently as 1886 that the age a girl could legally marry was raised from twelve to sixteen.

In remote Amazon tribes as soon as a girl has her first period she is married off so they can start reproducing. I'm sure this was quite normal in all societies until between 100 and 200 years ago, where there was not much time between puberty and death, where the average age span was only until you were in your 30's.
A small percentage did live until they were 70 or 80 but with no medicine, operations and a hard life, rotting teeth, lice and other problems, little hygiene and no help for the old and infirm it must have been a tough life, which can be seen with the level of population growth before the industrial revolution being very low.

Very true, Rods.
Following the 'Black Death' in 1347/48 population growth was painfully slow for decades, centuries even.

I work in Bletchley. I would guess there are not many local teenage girls who haven't got a bun in the oven, or already pushed one or more out.
