Right I have finally accepted that I won't have time to get a diesel mig and have it properly sorted before I head off for Spain on June 13th - yes it is a Friday, so I have just had the belts done on the Rover, fitted the 99p E-bay roof bars, dropped the oil and got my green insurance card. This might turn out to be an economical journey but it won't be as comfortable or enjoyable as those made in the Omega. Spent a lot on bringing the 620 td up to scratch and just can't afford to do it all over again with a mig, not yet anyway. If any one's in the Dover area on the afternoon of 12/06/08, mine's the silver 600 that stinks of veggy oil.

Arh veggy oil :y I remember those days, i would buy 4-5 3 liter bottles & it would last me about two weeks. Unfortunatley the 2.2 doesn't like it so i've been told :( Though these days it's not any cheaper than diesel :o

£1.90 for 3 litres, it just makes you feel that you've cheated the taxman, a nice feeling!

Is that the vegy oil you buy in the shops? do youhave to do anything to it? can you put it in a Citroen.

Yep from the shop. Apparently it depends on your pump. Some like on certain Rover's have no problems, but others don't like it. As for Citreon i don't know

Well this is something I have experience of, I own a Diesel car which will accept neat veg oil with no kit, basically the kit heats the veg oil before being passed to the fuel injection pump. The problem with veg oil is that it's thicker than derv, heating the veg oil makes it more runny. All modern diesel engines will not run on veg oil without the pre-heating kit which compiles of a seperate tank (Like LPG) and a heating element some use hot coolant to do the heating other use a electric element.
Sorry just re-read that, Veg oil is thicker than derv and needs to be heated prior to being fed into the fuel injection pump, if the fuel is too think it will clog the fuel pump and kill it, therefore the kits pre-heat the veg oil so that it doesn't kill the pump. The kit also has a switch over mode again like LPG so you start on normal diesel then switch over when the car gets to temperature.
