Title: Eye ...eye.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 18 September 2013, 18:02:13
I've just this minute returned from having  the cataract in my left eye removed.

Not an unpleasant operation, but weird and a little surreal.

I was the youngest person there by a good couple of decades. :) ;D

My Dad has had both eyes done ..... not at the same time  ::) he didn't even know he had them till it was pointed out to him. But the difference was apparently very noticeable.

I had one eye done last year - I was 60 and deemed to be very young to have it done!

Mum has just had both of hers done at 65. Before she'd struggle to make out the route number on the bus from 6ft, now she can read the number plate as the bus comes up the road 8)

Reminds me of Dave Waddington (ABS founding member). He had one done and it went wrong.Went and had the other one done and that went wrong too. Poor bloke is now virtually blind. :(

Very sad indeed. Last I heard he still has his LC on the drive, but he can no longer drive. He came to the last OOF Essex meet, with KeithB.

Probably the best thing to do in his circumstances.Stil tragic for a man who has been a life long car enthusiast to have to be a passenger in his own car. I really felt for him when I met him tbh.

If you have problems while you are recovering in counting your bags on gold Doubloons and gold bars every night, I will look after them and count them for you. When I return them I will be happy to confirm that with you poor eyesight you had in fact counted them all twice.  ::) ;) :P ;D ;D ;D ;D

Only takes a couple of hours to do, patch for 24 hours, then, if done somewhere like Moorfields in Lundun, near perfect vision, as they try to match the lenses to your eyesight :y

Hence Mum was that short sighted she couldn't see past the end of her nose without glasses, but now barely needs them to read, but has pretty much perfect distance vision 8)
