I loved my triumph herald. The joy of lifting the whole front end and climbing in with the sewing machine to fix/service it.
I feel quite nostalgic about it now. :'(

The 2 litre Vitesse had bigger balls. :y

The same engine was used in both the Triumph 2000 and GT6. :y

My first motor was a Herald 1250 went on my honeymoon to Cornwall in it, in 1972. Easy to work on,but, only needed a shower to start it rusting, particularly the top above :'( the rear (rubber) bumpers

Ah yes rust  :( The reason the whole body was junked on mine and just the chassis and engine remained ready for a Cobra body kit  :D

First car my parents had when I was a nipper. Have cine film of my dad apparently driving it to the hospital to collect me, although I suspect it was a re-run. ;D

I have a vague recollection of it overheating somewhere on the A11 on the way back from Norwich and "helping" my dad replace the piston that it killed. First and last time I remember him doing any serious mechanics. ;D I can't have been more than about 6 when he sold it - replaced by a Maxi. <shudder>  ;D

My Dad wouldn't have bought a French apple in the 1970's, let alone a car. He did eventually buy a French car, but it was a Renault Espace, so that foray was relatively brief. ;D

Talking of French cars just followed a new citroen c4 with the funny sloping back window. It gives a lovely reflection of my car when behind it in traffic. Plus you get to make sure all your front lamps are working with out getting out of the car  ;D
