Title: Need some Advice.
Post by: Mr.OmegaMan on 26 September 2013, 14:23:28
The bedroom TV has seen better days have been meaning to get a new TV for some time, But now it's knakered so I'm picking one up from Argos, Seen these two links below, It will mainly be used for PS3 games and BluRay's/DVDs and Netflix etc. Last TV I tried was last year a LG 32" Smart 3D TV which had lag and I couldn't see the 3D image so sent back and stuck to my old 22" HD Ready Toshiba.

So far these two are the contenders, Any more than 32" would be too big for the bedroom I'd emagine.

So far I'm leaning towards the Samsung..

Any recommendations ? Has to be Argos mind don't really want to go into why..

Thanks
 :)

I'd go for the Samsung... always good to see if you can compare the two in person though.

I've been reading reviews that the Panasonic has a poor Smart set up not many apps. Seems Samsung is the most popular most bought brand when it comes to TVs.

Panasonic :y

Best seller doesn't always mean best...

Ford made 20 billion Escorts and not one of them was any good ::)

Yep, I vote Panasonic, too. I reckon their LED backlit panels are better (and less variable) than the Samsungs. Smart functionality is just a gimmick anyway, so ignore it. You're better off sticking a Raspberry Pi to the back of it with Velcro if you want a smart TV. :y

Couldn't agree with you any more there, Thank god not may survived, Don't see many here anyway ;D

Thing is seen as the Panasonic has a poor choice on the Smart front, Wouldn't i be better off getting a standard Panasonic unless I'm missing something. One of the differences I've seen in the spec between standard/smart Panasonic is the Motion rate, Smart TV Motion rate 100Hz, Standard TV Full HD 32" Motion rate 50Hz, Going by reviews that's not good especially when it comes to games and fast action paced films ???

Seen as the PS3 has most of the apps a Smart TV would have there's not much point in getting one, But generally the Smart TVs seem to be better spec'd out  :-\

My current telly is a ten year old Panasonic with 100hz flat screen tube, no flicker on it at all. Did have exactly same telly in the lounge but with 50hz flat screen and the picture was nowhere near as clean fwiw ;y

There is a Philips 32" Full HD Smart TV for around £490 with 300hz, Wonder what that would be like.

For what you want, personally would go for Samsung on cost - we have a Samsung 32" (about 3 years old now) in one of our bedrooms and have been satisfied with it :y

As with others, I would recommend Panasonic full HD with HD Freeview, but without all the "smart" stuff.

I have two; a TX-L39B6 and a TX-L50B6B.  Very satisfied with them since purchasing from Argos in July :y :y :y

samsung model is outdated .. dont know about panasonic..

I would recommend at least ES series or  latest .. also if you are going to use it for internet I would check it physically.. and it will need an external keyboard+mouse pair..

The Samsung I got is the 2013 type has a dual core processor as well I think. Will update on how it performs with BluRays and PS3 games and Netflix etc  :y

They do have some good deals sometimes, Too me hours fiddling with the settings to get a picture for the TV/PS3/BluRays etc. will take some time to get familiar with it, Nice clean picture happy with it so far  :y
