Title: Petrol Price Surprise
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 27 September 2013, 16:53:20
Today I went to my local Sainsbury's, as I so often do, to fill the tank.

Yesterday the price per litre was 138.8.  Today it had fallen to 129.9! :o :o :o :o :o :o

The staff had no idea why, and later I noticed the price at a local Tesco filling station had also fallen, but only to 133.9.

Does anyone know why this sudden fall has taken place.  Anything to do with the USA and Russia doing a deal over Syria, with any threat of military action now put on hold?

Has it boosted market confidence in oil supplies being relatively safe in the Middle East for now?

Or is there another more simple reason? ??? ??? ??? ???

Good news for any driver in Ashford today anyway! :D :D :D :y :y :y :y :y

How about with you where you live? ??? ??? ???

I was quite surprised when the Super I filled with this morning was 134.9p - I assumed it was some kind of error until I saw the huge price sign on the main road proclaiming UL to be 129.9p.

I felt old when Amy remarked that it was 124.9p when she started driving.. ;D

Dont forget that due to Mark Carney's statements about QE the pound has risen in value making oil effectively cheaper.

No idea tbh. Cant remember the last time I bought petrol or Diesel. It has reminded me though that I must drain the 50 odd litres of unleaded out of the petrol tank of the dead 3.2 sat on my drive. :)

Half a tank old bean  ;D  :o

When en-route, outside temp was around -18  :o

I felt half a tank of petrol would be a wise security pre-caution, in-cause my LPG decided to stop working (which it never did)

So been lugging half a tank of fuel around, it switches over so quickly it uses very little  :D

It has come down for several reason, oil price drop due to no attack on Syria, rising pound and where the fuel industry were holding back a price drop, until the OFT strongly hinting that if prices didn't drop by at least 6p, that the wholesale prices had dropped by in the last few weeks, they would launch an investigation.

Yes you can see the Syria spike here, another reason not to bomb people:

Plus graph is in dollars and pound has gone up lately.

The breakless retards at both Shell garages in Horsham are still charging £1.38 ::) Tescos opposite one are asking £1.29...

Doubt they'll have much left by the time I need some :-\
