I agree that is shameful >:( >:(
Any British family or individuate considering a holiday in Spain for next year should book elsewhere.
Spain is already financially in trouble, so we now know what to do! ::) ::) ::)

Spain is still a superb holiday destination. You would be spiting yourselves against the actions of a few. :o

Once maybe, but now there are many equally, if not better, holiday destinations. :D :D :D ;)
Maybe though it would be an over-reaction to disregard Spain just because of that few. But it still makes me angry that Spain goes on and on about the Gibraltar issue, just as Argentina goes on about the Falklands. They both seem to forget that democracy counts in 2013, and their people must learn to understand it is the right of the people in those countries to decide who rules or administrates their lands. :y :y

I believe that Rajoy (our PM) is looking for something to make him look good. The country is suffering from mass unemployment, he is accused of accepting bribes, he and his party that were elected on a landslide with no policies has seen his popularity plummet. Gibraltar fits the bill.
I was talking to a Spaniard the other day and he agreed with me that Gibraltar should remain as it is but was incensed about the yard cube concrete blocks that had been dropped around Gib with hooks in to foul fishing nets. That was his only beef. I told him everyone involved should just grow up and that Spain fishes all the oceans of the world. What is so special about the tiny amount of sea around Gib.

Great point Varche! :y :y :y
Perhaps we should resurrect Sir Francis Drake to again plunder the Spanish Galleons ships / boats!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

The Spanish are notorious for plundering the worlds fishing grounds with no regard for conserving fish stocks or caring whether they are in international waters or not!! >:(
The Canadians had a massive row with them a few years back, when the Canadian Navy arrested some Spanish trawlers fishing illegally in Canadian waters. If I remember rightly it caused a diplomatic incident and the Spanish went bleating to the EU for support. ::)
Practically every fishing boat in Britain flew The Maple Leaf in support of the Canadians. :y
