Title: zafira b z22yh swirl flaps
Post by: Dazzler on 03 October 2013, 13:58:22
I have the above car and "My Naff Code Reader" shows fault code of swirl flap stuck.
I can move the actuator bar by hand so I'm guessing the flaps move. There is a bit of resistance which I take to bethe actuator.
Any ideas?

Sounds like the flaps are in the process of breaking up :-\

Would suggest that the only way to be certain would be to take the inlet manifold off and have a look :-\

There is a Vx modification kit for the swirl flaps on the 2.2 direct injection petrol engine (93192896)

Field remedy 2233 covers it.

These engines have two issues (all of which were sorted on later lumps).

High pressure pump - later pumps good
Swirl flaps - modified inlet or mod kit

What triggers the fault code?
Because it all moves freely.  Could it be the actuator?

I have read about the field remedy. Looks a fair old job that inlet manifold removal. :'(

The extra resistance on the actuator (as the flaps are sticking).

You could lock the flaps open via some means and disconnect the actuator from the rod and leave it at that.
