Flew into Leeds last night from Malaga. Actually 10 minutes before landing the capatin announced we would be landing at Liverpool (a place near Manchester) because of fog. I asked if we could divert to Scarborough but he had the bit between his teeth.
Over an hour in the plane before they let us off. Then another 90 minutes wait ,Ryanair (!!) laid on buses which whisked us back to Leeds in a jiffy (well 100 minutes). So I was well late arriving at my parents.
Good start.
Scarborough Fair tonight. Hoping to buy a few goats and chickens to take back with me on Saturday. I wonder if they will have any toffee apples!
One flight down, three more to go this month.

will they let you on the plane with them? or will you have them delivered?
Surely it would be cheaper to buy them locally?

A blat across Spain with the roof down and then 24 hours dozing on a ferry is much more civilised than Ryanair, you know. ;)

If they weigh less than 10Kg and can fit in that frame then Ryanair will take them. My piece of cabin luggage on Saturday is a desktop computer. I'll see how that goes.
It is the first time I have been diverted to another airport. Not Ryanairs fault it was blanketed in fog.

True, but it may be Ryanair is too mean to equip their a/c, and train their crew, with Autoland systems, as do BA.

That is quite possible but does the cost of hospitality vouchers, buses, plane and crew in wrong location outweigh the cost? Ours wasn't the only Ryanair flight that was diverted. Faro was too. Howver someone waiting at the airport reported that another plane did land at the same time as ours could/should have. Maybe Jet2 with autoland. Makes you wonder.

Even if both a/c and airfield are equipped for autoland, and there are varying degrees of autoland for each a/c type with differing limits depending on equipment serviceability etc. Category 3B used to be the lowest limits, virtually zero horizontal and vertical visibility on the Tristar, both pilots must also be currently qualified to use it, so it can be a very expensive option to have both the equipment serviceable in your a/c and keep all your crews currently qualified.
