Title: Central heating - progress
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 28 May 2008, 16:25:05
While working from home today ::) I just had a play.

Noticed a drip from one rad  downstairs so fixed the join.

Bled them all, got lots of air out.

Boiler now reports a pressure of 0,5 bar more than before but still warns low pressure.

Will it pressurise itself slowly now the leak is fixed?

No. It will need to be manually filled.

Ok - system pressurised to recommended level and rads bled. No leaks.

Reset boiler - CH won't work still. The light for "electrical supply" is on.

Strange, it's obviously got electricity to put the light on ;D

Hot water is still fine...

Any ideas anyone? I'm tearing my hair out!

Btw - nothing picked up on CO3 tester.

Is the hot water from the boiler or an immursion tank?
Is the boiler switched to central heating and hoidioter?
check to make sure the heating is set to on on the timer control.
is it a combi boiler?

Sorted.

See, I could become a boiler technician, if things get too tight ;D ;D

Stuck 3 way valve, that is quite a common failure point if only hot water working, then boiler is working unless hot water is heated via an immersion heater.
Or room thermostat could be faulty, by telling the system it is hot enough it will not call for the boiler to light.

James, unless you're had the boiler running for a fair while, no CO will be picked up, even if it's faulty. The CO will build up if the flue is blocked or there is something else wrong with the boiler, but in either event, it would take a little time to be detected.
