Hi guys,
Ok well today was full of potential. Was going to work my nuts off to get the car started.
Martin popped round early doors with sealant (cheers mate :y :y :y), looked outside.... pissing it doon. then get call from the mrs... she's stranded in toon ::) just got back from rescuing her and tbh i'm cold tired and wet :'( (i'm a pussy I know).
SO. Omega will be done Wednesday when i'm next free. my question is though..... the MOT expires tomorrow. car will still be insured and still be taxed. can I leave it on the road or do I have to SORN it for the sake of a few days???
cheers :y

Technically it needs to be kept off road :-\ pre booked Mot is a must though :y
Basically man up, get outside and fix it ;D

Technically you can be fined for driving it without an MOT unless you have a pre booked MOT appointment and are driving it there, as Al mentioned. No points though and it is quite a small fine - £60. I got fined that taking my last mig to the scrap yard :'( :'(. I'm pretty sure you won't be fined if it is just left on a road, insured and taxed.

Pumbien v Vines
(1995) The Times June 14 Queen's Bench Divisional Court
A motor car parked on a road was being used on the road for the purposes of sections 47 and 143 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 even if it was totally immobilised and could only be moved by being dragged away, and, therefore, required both a valid MOT certificate and an insurance policy.
The Court so held in dismissing an appeal by way of case stated by Andee Pumbien against his conviction of offences of using a motor vehicle on a road without either a valid test certificate or insurance policy contrary to sections 47(1) and 143(1) of the 1988 act.
;)
Also potential insurance issues with no MOT ;)

Maximum penalty for no MOT is up to £1000 fine, no points
No MOT may well void your insurance cover - larger max fine (up to £2500 max), potential disqualification, and car impounded, plus 3 points.

Having no MOT cannot invalidate any insurance policy in force, if it did then we wouldn't be able to drive to & from pre-booked MOT's or any other pre-booked repairs.
All the MOT proves is that the "testable" items were functioning correctly at the time they were tested, it is not a guarantee that the vehicle is roadworthy in any way, shape or form. In fact, it is quite possible for a vehicle to pass an MOT and still be illegal to use on the road.

Totally illegal Webby!!! :o Get on with it and don't expect any sympathy here IF you get caught!! ::) ;D

Gonna SORN it lads. i know i'd get in trouble if i didnt ::)
-
Just get it on the drive,no need to sorn it as still taxed.
-
I assumed that you didn't have anywhere 'off road' so as TMM says get it on the drive! :y You can't keep a SORNED vehicle on the road either! ::)

Gonna do some work tonight..... using the torch ::)

Just to add, as said pre booked MOT is a must, make sure when you book it in they have all your details, Pre booked means it has to be driven directly there and local, also technically you only have 1 hour before and after the Test (if it fails or you dont have Tax) for it to be legally driven on the road. :y,

Thanks TB :y :y :y

Could simply be that the cam cover isn't seated properly :-\
