Evening All
As per the description. I have a rather old (5 yrs) Acer Aspire 5315 laptop which has had a really annoying problem for the past few months and I've decided to have a look into it.
What happens is, it has an Alps Pointing Device touchpad that appears to 'shake' on the screen but only when your finger is in direct contact with the touchpad. Im not talking about shaking all over the screen, just a very mild shake that is infuriating when doing any small movement stuff like moving the margins on a word document. It also appears to self click on any link if you leave your finger on it whilst hovering over said link.
I have just tried updating the Alps Driver and restarted the computer but its made no difference.
Have any of you computer types got any idea what the problem is or is it just that its old and full to bursting!!!
Cheers people

TBH, although they have the lowest reliability in the industry, even if it was an outrageous 10% failure rate, there is still a good chance that if you bought one, it would be OK :)

Their performance, even when new, doesn't live up to the spec, as they are designed for "big numbers" in retail outlets, rather than being a well thought out, balanced design.

When my new samsung lap top died in less than 2 years, out came the old Acer to fill the gap, I was so impressed I went out and got another Acer........ :y :y

Yup, I rate them (or did, seem to have lost their way a bit lately). Used them for years. My old Sat Pro must have ended up in the bath almost as often as I did. Bloody thing still works, even now, I gave it to a mate who still uses it.
