On ebay there are quite a few BT branded Humax Youview boxes for sale, many of which are brand new/unopened etc.
Ok, so what.
Well, my query is that BT supply these for a £5 a month fee and (my understanding) is that the box is still BT property and needs to be returned at the end of the rental period.
So, how does that work? I'm struggling to get my head around that. Either people are selling the box and continuing to pay the monthly fee, or BT aren't wanting the boxes returned.
Any idead :-\

People being stupid & think they own them and can sell them?
In the flat I have Virgin TiVo and router, as I'm leaving I have to return them as they are rented. They will provide a bag/box and somewhere to drop it. If I don't the fee's are quite high, £150 for the TiVo box and £50 for the router, £20 for the remote :o :o :o

I'm guessing BT can't be @rsed to collect unwanted boxes. It probably costs them more to chase them up than a new box costs to buy in the quantities they are shifting them.

I know that certainly the youview ones are currently required to be returned...
