"Ms Wakefield - who is a self employed carer - was unavailable for comment, however, her husband Leslie, 59, said his wife was entitled to the compensation money.(£3,500)
'She's been given the redundancy money which she is entitled to - and that's the end of the story,' he said from outside the couple's home.
'People die. Husbands die, children die, wives die - it happens, I'm afraid.
'Mr Lomas was Jayne's employer - it is as simple as that.
'I don't think it's a large bill - he's sitting on loads of premium bonds anyway.'
Best employ carers through a company I guess.

This is how the Government want Carers to be employed now, by the person who needs the service paid for, if they meet the criteria, via the Local Authority by providing finances via a Direct Payment or Personal Budget, this is coming into Children's services as well.
It's what people wanted apparently, the choice to buy their own package rather than receiving a care package from and off the shelf range provided by the Council. What people forget is they become employers and have the same responsibilities as any other employer with holiday and sick pay as well, this will have been incorporated in the financial allowance, oh and don't forget the paperwork and the taxman to pay -................... :-X :-X :-X

Why cant they work on a self employed basis ? If a bloke comes to clean my windows, I don't have to pay him holiday, sickness and redundancy pay.
