Driving around town happily when I pull out onto a dual carriageway (with a slight uphill gradient) put my foot down and a lot of juddering and lack of moving forward accompanied by the EML.
Mange to limp the car home with it only wanting to pull away very slowly. (much horn and light action from other motorists!)
Reading the codes show:
P0302 Stored Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
Checked plugs and no oil or water so took it for a drive around the block up to operating temperature - all ok to start with and beyond the point where it went closed loop. However once hot starts to misfire again, park up and can feel it every few seconds at idle so switch off.
Live data from the test drive available as a CSV if helpful, but all looks reasonable to me.
Any thoughts? I wonder about trying a new coil pack, but that is an expensive guess.

Worth inspecting the coil pack visibly, look for any burn marks.
Also did you take the plugs out and inspect them?
Does sound like coil pack, they generally last around 70-100k ish going by some reports here. That said my 2.2 is running on coil pack I had in FatherT's 2.2, which is original so 13 years/145k ish.
Can't remember exactly, think I popped it out of his around 120k but no idea what mine was on at the time :(

Thanks - I didn't take the plugs out, just looked around them.
I'll bring the coil pack inside (its like a tropical storm outside currently) and give it a good inspection.

Coil pack looks externally perfect - can they just fail with no visual sign?
2 of the breather pipes have a coating of oil on the outside which seems to be coming through the pipe, I don't remember this before. There is also oil in the throttle body which again I remember before. Is this normal? The pipe do not go hard when running so not pressurised. I cleaned up all the oil and checked pipes for obstruction, but found none.
Repeated my test - all is ok with the car until gets really nice and hot.

Did anyone have any thoughts other than coil pack? (mine does look A1)
If not I need to do something so will try the pack first - is any Bosch good?

Or is this a GM only product?
Many thanks

If it was me i would first have all four plugs out and check them and swap them around and refit them.If fault still on same cylinder then its looking more like coil pack.
looks like you have had water in two of the plug wells.(that will be leaking scuttle)
And it sounds(looks) like you need to clean your breathers and throttle body too. :y

A clue may be in your own posts... (Closed loop) - check lambda operation :y

Thank you both for the replies, good to have some direction.
It has not logged any error codes since I cleared the misfire - just starts to miss and I stop driving it. Given that and that I have a new set of GM plugs here I will swap them all out and see if it makes any difference.
I don't think water has ever been in the plug wells, but they were certainly full of oil when I purchased the car. Change of gasket and clean all breathers fixed that. (new GM plugs also fitted)
Lambda is interesting sensor "1" has a nice shape to the graph but "2" does look rather flat to me.
Is 2 the post CAT? Which one of the 2 is used for mixture control? Just the Pre CAT?

Plugs changed and no change there unfortuantly. :-(

Same code? Misfire on pot2?

Same code? Misfire on pot2?
No code logged at all currently - I have been driving it around the block to warm it up. Once I get back it is just starting to miss so I switch off to prevent any CAT damage. Am I being too cautious?
I could take it for a longer drive until it really give up again / EML comes on.
I have also given breathers and TB a good clean.
I still wonder about Lambda 2 though, it looks very flat - I don't know if that is post cat and not used for mixture control anyway?

If its the same as v6, only the first lambda is used for control
-
Ah ok, thanks - I'll discount Lambda 2 from my investigations then :)

New coil pack, solved this back to running as it should now :-)
Thank you all for the help.
