Depends on which part of Yorkshire you're talking about. ::)
-
I'll direct anyone who doesn't know to the South Riding first, West Riding 2nd, then the East Riding and finally(and last resort) to the North Riding. That should keep visitor numbers down. ;D

Oi >:( >:( ;D
Seriously, i'll have you know that Hull has changed beyond recognition in the last 15 years or so ;D
And all for the better in my HONEST opinion :y :y
You foreigners could quite easily spend a few great days here then hop onto the ferries to cloggy land to visit the cafe's :-X ;D
-
Fair does. haven't been to Hull for about 40 years. Don't you have to go across that bridge that should be free now (as promised when it opened) to get there from proper Yorkshire? I couldn't be spending money on that.

In Liverpool, we've got a tunnel that should have been free well before that bridge. ;D

Just spent a few days near Harrogate, SWMBO & myself both like Yorkshire, as we do a lot of walking there really are some magnificent views to be had .Last weekend walked between Patley bridge & Grassington highly recommended for those of you that like a bit of exercise.. Also have walked a lot of the coastal path about 19 miles of it so far, once retired a group of us plan to do the coast to coast.
-
I couldn't go there, I don't understand them. ;)

Nah ;D
That bridge spans the Humber Estuary to those web fingered lovely country folk in Lincolnshire :D :D :D :D
As for the bridge fare, they halved it last year so not to bad now days

There is only one Yorkshire, the West Riding :y :y South doesn't even speak properly, and the North is full of rich poofs or yokel inbreds.
Remember Stemo the county gave you sanctuary. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Imo,it wouldn't even make the top three in the British Isles, never mind the whole planet. :)

Compared to Essex it's paradise, fake tans, accents and an average IQ of three the same as a fields of cabbages or the Nottinghamshire Constabulary ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Im not from Essex,so no skin off my nose. :P ;D ;D
Having said that, tbh the north of Essex where I live is quite a nice place, and much of it is reasonably picturesque.
Its never going to match County Kerry, the Glens of Antrim, the Scottish Highlands,or.................Yorkshire though. :y ;D

What, where (and why) are you basing that on?
-
See post above. ;)
-
Everyone please note:
The English Civil War (2013) started here. ::) ::) ;) ;D
-
Does seem a bit silly, though. Imagine all of the fantastic places you see on tv. I can't even begin to name them, there are hundreds, thousands even. North Yorkshire is tranquil and picturesque in places, but number three in the world? No.

Horses for courses, all depends what people like & want, friends of ours go to France every year they have never been to Yorkshire, yet they say they don't like it & can't understand why we go there.A lot of people don't walk hardly at all now, this country of ours does have a lot to offer you don't always have to spend lots of cash & go to exotic places ...We have travelled a lot abroad & still do but some of the best scenery is on our doorstep .Get out there & have a look !!

Been up there many a time, not these days mind.... ::) :(
We love North Yorkshire but I do tend to agree with STEMO there are many other areas that are as good in this Country - look at The Lakes as an example........... :y :y
-
how very dare you albs >:( ;)
nice to see my hometown get a mention picky number 6 and Yorkshire should be 1ST PLACE :-*
-
I've done a fare bit of travelling around Europe but I must agree that this country takes some beating imo.
The only thing you can't guarantee is the weather but that's never been a problem for me because i'm one of these people who tends to go "bright red", then blister and peal then go white again so as long as its warm enough for my shorts then i'm happy :)
Plus the beers good if you avoid "darn sarff" ;D ;D

Is that where the bed-wetting shandy drinkers hang out, Mr Gonads? ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

West coast of Ireland, North County Antrim,Mourne mountains in south Down are my favourite places without going onto the continent.
I love Italy, and have no interest at all in the rest of Europe. North East USA (as long as its not winter)is also a great place.

I wondered when you'd mention the vast country park that is Wakefield, Opti. Shall we house swap for a while? 8)
