Just returned from Simple Minds concert at Koko venue in Camden.
Small venue - just 1400 tickets permitted.
Great stuff from the 1980s

Sounds like a good night! :) I saw them a few years ago at the Ashdon Court Festival in Bristol a few years ago. 8)

Sounds like a good night :y I saw then in Leeds at Roundhay Park a few years ago although I prefer smaller indoor venues :y
-
Glittering Prize was my favourite song of theirs

Good to see that they are "still alive & kicking" ::)

Koko is a great little venue, even upstairs.
My decisions about whether to go and see something tend to be governed by "Where" rather than "Who". I mean if the Beatles were to resurrect reunite and play Wembley, I wouldn't go.
Bottom of the list is Wembley (Stadium or Arena)
Top of the list is Electric Ballroom, Roundhouse, Koko, Garage :y

Yep, them as well. 100 Club in particular as if something finishes late I can get the N29 night bus pretty much all the way home :y

Don't like the O2 as a venue, far too big and no atmosphere, Earls court was similar.Wembley arena, wasnt bad,but not great - agree that smaller venues are always better. Less money in them for big names though.
Favourite venues were The pound club in Belfast (capacity around 200) and The Ulster hall, Belfast (capacity around 1200).
Rory Gallagher at the Ulster hall (saw him at least 7 times there) is a cherished memory that will stay with me forever.
The atmosphere was always electric, and he never failed to blow the roof off the place.

Yes 02 is a challenge - Simple Minds will be there soon with Ultravox - I do not think I could take the numbers of people.
Koko was quite "intimate" but the technical side was a little difficult and they just increased the sound to compensate which whilst seemingly ok for most - I found to be a little unfortunate.
Having said I that I am a listener rather than jumping around with my hands in the air unlike 95% of the attendees at Koko last night.
I was driving so not drinking and complete strangers came up with soft drinks for me as they were concerned I was not drinking in a hot venue - despite the fact I had a party of 5 others with me??

Jim Kerr said last night that he last played the venue in 1979 when it was called the Music Machine and that it was Richard Branson and Virgin who took them on thereafter. Last night was a tribute to Virgin's 40th anniversary.

Funnily enough, I was in one of our PoP sites on Thursday, headphones on, and listening to Simple Minds at full chat. I must have been ait guitaring and dancing around, as a woman in one of the flats opposite gave me some strange looks :-[
