Title: Annoyed
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 30 May 2008, 15:55:06
I specifically travelled from Cardiff to Cheltenham today so that in the morning I can meet the buyer of the Disco.

I've just had an email from her stating that because she couldn't sell her car, she now has a payment problem

I could have worked from home today and saved my costs and time - to say nothing of the £50 in listing/final value fee's it's cost me.

So much for protecting the buyer - another instance of the seller getting shafted  >:( >:(

Interesting how they won't answer their phones to discuss alternative dates too.

You had a fair idea something was amiss after the payment method  >:(

If they can't buy it outright, or they want to pull out, why can't they do the decent thing and just tell me !!

If they let me down tomorrow, I will not hesitate to start an unpaid item dispute and relist it immediately!!

Finally - a call.

They can't buy it because they don't have the money until they sell something else.

Charming.

They have 24 hours else I log an unpaid item and relist it :(

I wouldn't mind but, the auction clearly stated if you don't have the funds, don't bid !!

when i lived with my x, i bid for a dvd writer off e bay for 2.98.  the delivery charge was 9.98. when i won the item the bloke put the delivery charge up to 33 quid. i refused to pay it, contacted e bay, got no reply. 2 days later i was suspended, im still suspended now. which they wont lift.

Surely if the delivery charge was initially on his listing then he hasn't got a leg to stand on!

I have never used e-bay and never will due to all the hastle and fraud that clearly goes on.  Savings there may be, but the risks outwiegh the advantages in my opinion. :)

When I use ebay I automatically assume that I am dealing with a low-life. If I am right I lose nothing, if I am wrong, happy days.
Never assume that something is 'sold' until the filthy lucre is in your mitts.

Seriously though, i agree. Seller is being shafted recently by ebay.

Fortunatley - or perhaps down to the type of thing i sell i very very rarely get unpaid items etc.

I guess i have also benefited from the recent change in feedback as mine has gone from 99.6% to 99.8%

I think Ebay are getting so many businesses selling these days they are shifting their Ts and Cs accordingly - to put greater emphasis on buyer protection.

About time they had some serious competition.

The number of sellers inconvenienced v buyers shafted appears to be minimal.  We all know under the old scheme, buyers were forced to leave +ve feedback, no matter what.  Hence I'm all for the new scheme - its not perfect, but its a big step the right way imho.

Certain items you'll always have hassles with - phones, laptops, cars and so on.  I avoid buying/selling these.  Probably why I have very little hassle on Ebay.

The feedback changes I agree with. After all, what can go wrong with a buyer? They either pay or they don't.
