Title: Pre Booked Mot Test
Post by: amba on 12 November 2013, 09:09:27
My car is currently on a sorn notice and the mot has expired due to me having it off the road for sometime doing several jobs on it.

I now need to get it taxed, and mot tested but cant do 1 without the other.

I have put insurance in place to start at midnight on 25th November ,so can I drive it to a pre booked MOT test on that date bearing in mond it will have no current tax or mot,as without the mot certificate I cant then get road tax.

Lots of conflicting reports on line so wondering if anybody has had the sam situation

Exactly :y

The only legitimate excuse for no tax/mot is that the car is going to/from a prebooked test or to/from an appointment at a place of repair in relation to a test failure :y

Doesn't include dropping the kids/wife off on the way or shopping etc, must be straight there and straight back. Obviously if it passes, you can stop to buy tax ::)

Can also be driven without tax if going for a VIC ... which is totally separate from an MOT ...  :y :y

Yup .. must have an MOT , but may not have TAX, as without a V5 you cannot tax the car, and a new V5 is not issued without the VIC

Thanks guys,as always for excellent advise.

Thought I was ok as long as I had insurance in place as couldnt see how else I could get 1 without the other..unless had car transported to MOT test and back which seemes bit silly

Just hope it passes now ,although as vertually everything is new would be quite surprised if not..famous last words though :o
