Title: Badminton advice

Hi all....

Looking at Christmas presents for daughter and two of the grandchildren. They all have started doing Badminton, and have suggested racquets for presents. Do not want to spend a fortune, but want something pucker. Seen some makes..Yonex, Carlton, Dunlop.....are these good makes.
They all look the same to me...but some had a code 30, and some 40. What is this?
Any info appreciated. I think two of the three could get into this biggish time. :y

Dunno owt about badminton racquets...
Did play squash at league level a looooonnnnnggggg time ago -
dunlop, slazenger are/were good makes.

The 300/400 series (dunlop?) in squash racquets refers to weight, strength, cost.
400 are lighter, stronger, more expensive than the 300

My advice - if they haven't told you what sort of racquet they want, they aren't playing at a level where it matters, so buy based on budget.

To take on our hols in N Yorkshire, I bought two racquets and two shuttlecocks for £1.99 in asda.  :y
They are still in the packet somewhere in the shed, you can have them for £1+p&p.

Used to play a lot in my younger days (35 years ago) at county level, and I always liked Yonex.
I wouldn't think there would be much difference between the makes nowadays, and dependent (I'm assuming youngsters) on the age and skill level Again assuming beginners) of the kids, I would probably avoid going over £20 for each racket. you get some reasonable ones for around the £15 mark.
I must admit I used to go be the feel of the 'bat' rather than the price!

Thanks for the info....yes two are young 11 and 13 but my daughter is adult. The ones I saw of the makes in the OP were within that price range, most being reduced to around 15 to 20 pounds :y

Tony, on the site already mentioned is this selector to advice on weight etc. I used to use a Carlton but it's down to personal choice :y

The 30 etc is the weight 3u, 4u and the g refers to the tension in the strings

Gonna have a peruse now.
I want to encourage the kids in a sport. Its worth having something a bit decent, but not too expensive, to start with. If they pack up its not too much of a financial waste.
Fancied doing it myself, but I would be knackered just walking onto court ;D

Noticed you picked up on Stemo's post. That's why I did not contact him....I don't deal in stolen goods ;D
