Title: Exhaust Downpipe
Post by: Ian_Fearn on 13 November 2013, 19:58:28
I've noticed that the exhaust downpipes on my 2000 2.5V6 are double skinned. The outer skin seems to be a heatshield but i've not looked too closely.

The outer skin on both sides is damaged by corrosion. They're not hanging off yet though.

Anybody else got similar issues? Is it worth keeping an eye out for replacements?

Cheers, Ian

It's normal, don't worry about it. Never fit pattern down pipes, they sound dreadful!

When the heat shields on mine fell off I noticed/thought  they got louder/raspier so I wrapped the pipes in exhaust heat wrap.  It keeps the noise and heat down.

I bought the car with 12 months MOT (done at a trusted old skool local Vauxhall dealer) so I hoped it'd be ok.

Does anybody know what a set of downpipes costs from Vauxhall?

Is it worth joining Autobahnstormers to get a Vauxhall trade card?

Thanks for the advice.
