Title: Tfi Friday...
Post by: chrisgixer on 20 November 2013, 19:24:33
....again. Christ I'm knackered.

Bloody safety shoes are killing me too. Sooooo glad to get the bloody things off after a week of 12 hours. :(

Still, beer and dry roasted, arm chair, telly, jobbed!  :y

Although it looks like I will be going back to "normal" weeks in December!

It's Friday for me, too.
Roll on 6AM, when 'Wednesday' actually finishes.

I would like to say that I'll be aware of that when I get up at 6.30 ::) but given that I will be barely conscious, I won't  ;D

True, but most weeks I have Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday at my disposal, so it kind of evens out ::)

I think its a case of "grass is always greener" tbh.

Although 3x 12 hours does save on travel costs with more time off. But 12 hours is a long day. Very long. Veeeery very long. Indeed. :(

Also, they've introduced annualised hours. So they can arse up "Friday" at a moments notice by asking for more hours in the off shift.

I'd hate 9 to 5 if just for the travelling at peak times. It takes me around an hour from my front door to the clock (after getting changed) As I proved the other day, it takes over an hour to get to work at peak times, I left my front door at 0725 the other morning & I drove through the barrier on the car park at 0950  :o :o :o :o ...... I left work to day at about 1550 today & arrived on my drive at 1715 ....... I hate peak time driving!

Very not good indeed.  Very seasonal work load, so makes sense financially for the company. But pissed off the entire work force. Big time.

12 hours is a long day. Especially when you've 12 hours on-call, starting afterwards! Going back to a 9-5 job is starting to look quite attractive. Especially one where I wouldn't have to deal with customers.

It's not ruddy Friday :P Every week you tell this lie...

Two more days of the vein on my temple bulging at the ridiculousness at work before the weekend, three more for Amy's one day off..

These 4-day 35-hour weeks are killing me ... (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43954633/rofl.gif)

Ive got a 2 day 24 hour week this week, a 3 day 45 hour next week, and a 4 day 60 hour week the week after. Christmas period will be around 100 hours per week, but a lot of that will be dayshifts with no-one else there. If the weathers good, plenty of little jobs to be done on the cars.

No overtime until I work more than 162 hours in a 4 week period. ;)
The money is sh1te by the way. I was earning more 20 years ago, and almost double 5 years ago. Such is life though. Should have listened turned up at school.

I should think not, got to get your 40 hours a week in first...... :y :y

I was also earning considerably more, relatively up to 1987 including expenses, company car, phone paid - no mobiles then, till I chose to change career and more than halved my salary at the time; Had I remained, the company is still doing very well, I would have been around £70k + with a BMW or similar company car........ ::) ::)  When I think what I do and the responsibility I do sometimes wonder if I made the right choice in life, been a lot of great stuff in the middle though...... ;) ;)
