Title: Omegas and child seats
Post by: Dan282 on 25 November 2013, 19:43:37
To all the moms and dads i have a small dilema. me and my partner both have a kiddy from a previous relationship. We are expecting our own baby in may.

Now will 3 child seats fit in the back of the omega?

id hate to end up with a renault scenic or citroen picasso  ;D

Middle seat is not suitable for a baby seat, but as it has a 3point seatbelt, no reason why it shouldn't safely accommodate a booster seat!  :-\

Congratulations.

3 should fit in the back but note Broomies comment ref: middle seat.. I have 2 and reckon another one would fit.

If any are booster seats this will help your cause as they are not as wide as ones for 0-6 months. You could always go to a mothercare and try/test with a mates seat.

IIRC Some omega front seats have a transponder system which detects when a child seat is placed on the passenger seat and disables the airbag BUT you also need to have a child seat with the transponder built in (dealer job I believe).

It'll fit alright, but that 'hump' in the middle would worry me a little.  :y

Good point - best to do a test next time he goes to mothercare - which I'm sure he will!

Indeed. Our eldest will be 5 by the time baby is born so will consult mothercare and various options.

I would imagine if it can accommodate all the kids then the eldest would be in the middle.

I have used a "booster seat" in the central position, it works but is not ideal due to the "lump" ... we got around it by using two folded towels either side to level things out.

It was easier as two large adults were either side, so if the "booster" had of moved there were folks there to sort it..... a luxury you won't have.

If I were to have to use a booster on on any sort of regular basis I would make up a high density foam "base" that fitted the booster and made it sit level, if that makes any sense .....

When we had just two seats in the back of the Senator they tended to lean inwards towards each other a little, The Omega (saloon) seems similar so I'd think you have a similar problem in the back of the Omega, so who ever is sat in the middle would have their brother/sister leaning towards them on both sides.  :-\

But seats might have improved somewhat in the last 20 yrs  ;)

Dan,

CONGRATULATIONS MATE  :D :D :D :D

I've used the centre seat as a booster and its fine mate. Tadge tight with 2 "baby" seats either side, but its fine!

Your more than welcome to pop over for a cuppa and try different setups etc, as we've got quite a few kids seats. One set for my car and a set for SWMBO's  :y
