Title: Alarm
Post by: voodoocars on 28 November 2013, 15:49:47
The remote doesnt work on the key so have to lock/unlock with key. However, every time the car is unlocked the alarm goes off until the car is started. Can it be dissabled somehow? If I just dissconnect the power sounder will that work?

Powersounder and alarm horn both located under drivers side scuttle panel. Would remove powersounder. Also try a new battery in the key fob and re pare it to the car.

Got a bigger problem now... Un plugged both horns. Car started and ran ok. Put a new battery in fob. Locked doors- but the drivers didnt lock and then a few seconds later all the others unlocked on there own.  Started the car and its miss firing... Wtf is goin on? Need to give this car to the inlaws in a few hrs...

Pulled the leads and its No 4 which is not firing. However, I cant undo the spark plugs- seems like they have been really tightened in by the garage that used to service it. Anyone got any ideas..
I tried to sync the key but nothing happens- doors dont lock as they should.

Reason door locks are "bouncing"is drivers side solenoid might be dead.
misfire could be lead,plug etc.
try to remove plugs after engine has been run up to temperature, then refit when cold.

Whereabouts in the midlands are you?

I've just changed the solenoid in mine and have a socket for the spark plugs if you need a hand :y

I'm in Coventry. Thanks-I have the tools but I have never had plugs so tight before. I left them in the end as I was running out of time. After refitting No 4 lead it still missed so I calmed down and went back to it 10 min later. Didnt miss at all..!  The outlaws turned up to collect it and it started up and ran ok. The drove off the driveway and as they went up the road i'm sure I heard it stutter a bit.
Could it be anything to do with the key as it all went south after I had changed the fob battery?
I'll find out how its running tomorrow but in the meantime if anyone has any ideas let me know.

Very unlikely - coincidental IMO ;)
