Hi peeps , does anybody know what the dry compression values should be on a 2.2 2001 manual ,Z22XE.Thanks.

-
				i dont. but add compression ratio together e.g. 11:1 = 11 + 1
 then
 12 X 14.7 (atmospheric pressure).

 theres your answer :)

got  values of 100 psi on all 4 lol with throttle closed.

-
Need to get compression readings with throttle open - otherwise not enough air gets through to compress to give the reading.

If it's not in a manual somewhere, I'd expect 175-200psi each pot; no more than 10% difference across the board; ideally less than 5%.

Thought that didnt sound right will retest it.

-
Yes throttle open, the key thing is that they are all similar (as you never loose all four pots at once in the same way)

Did notice all four plugs had oil all over them and some on the top.Have done the cam cover gasket as well. Its loosing oil i get smoke a bit for say 7 secs on start up and the exhaust has oil around it.  ???

				Valve stem seals  :-\

-
Think you are right, as when i did the headgasket i noticed that 4 valves had been changed.Didnt send it off to be checked as didnt have the money at the time.So swapping the cylinder head out would sort this how do i know its not the pistons or rings.

Mine use to smoke on start up , cleared a bit when warm but still noticeable . On stripping down the head only one or two stem seals were seated but all worn  :( Replaced all the seals and no more smoke  :) Car never lacked power/performance of any notice while smoking so i never suspected rings .
