Title: Engine differences

Does anyone know what differences there are between the Y22XE and Z22XE omega engines please? ???

y22xe-less power and is omega other is frontera and older?

Actually both those engines are fitted to the 4 pot 2.2 omega, but I need to know if they share the same cyl. head, cams, valves etc :-\

One is chain driven, the other belt.

not sure about cams--as one engine is for 4x4---so could be different--is it a case of head gone or something?

also x/y on engine code is to do with compression of engine iirc

The only noticeable difference between them are the ECU and the inlet diameter is a whopping, or even humungous 1mm bigger ::) ;D

So could I fit a Y22XE cyl. head onto a Z22XE block and reconnect existing electrics/electronics without any fuss :-\ ;)

Yep, physically the blocks and heads are the same

Emissions control. X = euro 3 emissions standard.   Y = euro 4 standard
