Well BMW have had our 530D now for about a month with its knackered timing chain, I've been wondering where it is. So I phoned our garages to be told its STILL in a million pieces in BMW main dealers awaiting parts!!!! >:( >:( >:( HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?!?!?!?
Wouldn't like to think I'd paid £40k for a car and had to wait so long for the repairs under warranty, when it went bang! It going bang in the first place with 50k is bad enough.
Now we have no cars left as BMW no. 2 has AGAIN got the dreaded 'DPF' fault for the 5th time, and BMW no. 3 has a brake fault and is also off road!
If BMW no 1 ain't back soon I'm gonna report it as stolen :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D

Hasn't someone here got a marked up Omega you could borrow? ??? ;D
-
The thought had crossed my mind Sir Tigger! ;D
We can't even use the old pool Volvo because some bright spark wrote it off 3 weeks ago >:( >:( >:( :( :( :(
-
Excuse my ignorance... What's the dreaded DPF?

I'm sure we could rustle up 3 marked Traffic RPU estates in time for Christmas...
-
theres a noticeable amount of people with new to newish bimmers having major probs like this.
I started to notice when my mate told me about his company car (thus brand new) 1 series where the gearbox went kaput. then there've been others on here. and now jasonm.
really thought they were the ultimate driving machine :-X they got a new chief exec who's in to cost cutting or something? ::)
-
really thought they were the ultimate driving machine
The older ones are, it's the new stuff that's shite

The real issue is that cars are built to emissions standards, not designed for the jobs the actually do...
Plod cars being a case in point... always fully loaded and either idling or flat out. Emission control systems simply can't deal with the randomness. And in a degree of abuse and the cars soon prove what they're made of...V70s and Omegas/Senators being granite, BMWs being toffee ;D

Sounds like they were glad to see the back of it ::)
and made sure it failed on someone else watch cost centre.........
-
Well, I won't have to worry much longer, just found out we all have to reapply for our jobs - reducing the unit, cost cutting again, probably to pay for the BMW repair fund ;D ;D ;D
-
Would three fully equipped Omegas on lease save the unit enough cash for a promotion ::)

On a related point...
Your old Volvos...
Diesel/Petrol?
Manual/auto?
Reliable or fragile?
-
Our old Volvos were the T5 2.5 turbo Petrol manuals. We only have the odd one left now on the motorway '58 plates if I recall correctly. They were a fairly big old reliable tank to be fair, what with the stick we give em. They were specially built on the diesel chassis (because apparently it was stiffer or more rigid). Had the uprated brakes & discs, and some were 'fiddled with' to up the BHP. Engines bullet proof, the last one I drove had over 170,000 miles on the clock & still went like $h1t off a shovel, and it was the original engine. The only probs we had were, being heavy they used to eat brakes especially with the equipment we carry in the boot. In a pursuit you could easily go through a set and have to remove it from the road at the end. They'd eat our new BMW's for breakfast from a standing start. Fuel economy ::) ::) ::) :-X :-X :-X Don't ask, can easily empty a tank on a busy shift about £85.
-
Quite fancy a T6, but sensible head says new shape D5...
-
Well, the BMW saga continues................ BRAND NEW engine ordered under warranty ::) ::) ::) :o :o :o After nearly 2 months of head scratching??? So STILL no car back! Oh and guess what BMW No.2 has just gone off road with the same fault - Timing chain rattle, sounds like a couple off ball-bearings being shook up in a biscuit tin :-[ :-[ :-[
BMW No. 3 - Still got DPF problems and is awaiting a new one at another £1200 :-X :-X and our spare (stolen from another nick) is smoking like a good un with 99k on the clock!?!?
So we have now got 1 car between 4 of us >:(

No bad thing either Cap'n ;D

As a rugby player, playing on the wing or in the centre I'd have to disagree with that :P :P :P ;)
