Title: Halfords kettering
Post by: martin42 on 21 December 2013, 22:13:13
Although most of us dont have a very high opinion of halfords, not very helpful and not intrested, not so in the case of the kettering branch, walked in there friday night at 19.55 purchased a head unit for the cabby, and also spotted some nice wheels, the staff didnt rush around to kick me out dead on time, but were very helpful sorted out the wheels and fitting kit, took them out to the car, helped me load up,had a chat, went back inside to pay, didnt leave till 20.20,makes a change to meet some very helpful and non pushy staff.I popped back in there today as promised as they thought there might be an issue due to be car being lowered by 40mm,and spoke to the manager, and he also took the time to pop outside and see how they looked(also an ex cabby owner). :y

I quite agree, we don't talk about good service in the same way as bad, and that is wrong; we were very impressed with a meeter and greeter in an American style diner today, so much so I left a well deserved tip...... :y :y

Similar service from the halfords here too , usually have a chat with them and they are helpful but not many of them know what an omega is  :-\

I'd have to say that the Northamptonshire Halfords do sem to be far better.

I was after a socket tray that none around here had, so rang up Northampton, the guy there spent ages looking at stock levels or all stores around me, but could only locate one at Solihull and one at Corby. So I rang Corby to reserve one, and was chatting while he was physically checking stock before I made the journey, and once he realised that was was making a decent journey, he said he was meeting up with other branch managers, and could get it much closer to me.

Compare that to the service and attitude I got from the retards in Oxford's branch on Friday night...

Just a thought on the recent improvement in service in the likes of halfords... being a bit careful; is there a link between the economic down-turn and improved service?  Could it be that more "employable" people are seeking what work there is? I've certainly noticed that the experience of encountering sales assistants has rather improved in the last year or so.  Well done to them all.
All the best,

I think I've noticed this in shops. But in pubs bar staff are still bloody miserable; ironic when you look at the amount of pub closures there are and the fact that there's no one in boozers these days! (relative to a decade ago I mean)

Fact! Some bar staff are very sicially untallented.  as you say, not a surprise many have had to close! ;)
