Title: iPhone 4
Post by: Shackeng on 22 December 2013, 11:10:13
I have one which is offering me the software update 7.0.4, Should I download this? Having come a cropper in the past with software updates on MS, I am cautious. :-\

Its different....

If I were you Id play with an iphone running 7.x in a shop to decide if you can live with it.
I havent 'upgraded'  much prefer the older style.  I find the animations an annoying distraction, they can mostly be turned off in the accessibility options.
7.1 likely to be out Jan / Feb time, which is where I would jump in...IF I jump in.

Thanks JB, as I only really use it as a phone on PAYG, it may not be an issue. The only time I use it for internet is when I have a free wi-fi connection. :-\

7.0 is the big change. If you have that then 7.0.4 is a minor update. So if you have 6.0.* then its quite a change to the os. And it's not everyone's taste. There's some nice features added with the muti tasking, but other than that it's mostly cosmetic changes to 7.0.*

I don't like the icons personally. Bit basic, although more colourful. :-\

I already have 6.1.3, so perhaps I should stick with that given the reservations above. :-\

iPhone 4 will be tad under powered for iOS 7. The 4-S is just capable, would not want anything less powerful. Limited useful features in 7 too compared to 6

Google states thats a 32gb '4'

I would avoid the update.  Think you will find the phone becomes slower.

My iPhone 5 is staying on IOS6 for now. Nothing useful (to me) in IOS7, so I'll save my battery, and "If it aint broke"...

Thanks a lot guys, I'll stick with 6. It's probably academic anyway, as we are off to my daughter's tomorrow, and I usually find that I have 'inherited' her last year's iPhone which she will tell me is an 'upgrade'. Meaning I have to start learning how the damn thing works all over again. I don't like to refuse as she thinks she is doing us a good turn. She has already told us that SWMBO is getting her old iPad, and as we have never really managed to work out how to use the one she gave us last year, we are not looking forward to that. :-[ :-[ :-[
