Title: Insignia
Post by: Albert1 on 03 June 2008, 11:51:36
What's peoples' takes on the forthcoming Vx Insignia (Vectra replacement)?

My opinion is that it's quite nice and certainly better than the new Mondeo (which is somehow bland and a bit strange looking at the same time), but that it's nowhere as nice looking as GM are hyping it as.

The fact that it's named after a cheap after shave puts me off.  ;D

Then again, "Mondeo" is hardly a work of genius in the naming department.

I have difficulty getting excited about new cars, TBH. Not sure if it's just that my tastes are old-fashioned or that I know that, regardless of looks, it's bound to have a dull, uninvolving FWD chassis underneath.

The new Mondeo is certainly about as bland as they come, IMHO. Just a slightly pregnant Focus.

New Citroen C5 looks pretty nifty, and light years better than the monstruous Mk1.

Its actually a very good chassis which is 4x4 capable so watch this space for big blown petrol and diesel engines.

But named after an 80's aftershave is a put off!

But then I also couldn't buy something with the same name as a washing machine motor powered plastic 80's fad....

Yes, with the same "tupperware" feel to the build quality too.  ;D

For the new Mondeo..Front design nice..But backside..Really Ugly..

And the insignia..Overall design is good but nothing new..

Sure is a better car than the old vectra..

It seems designers are desperately trying (old) new things ;D
