Title: Just a bit confused.
Post by: ted_one on 30 December 2013, 00:44:59
Just been looking at the Halfrauds site, and it states that anti freeze is now vehicle specific, but does'nt elaborate.so is there anyone on here that can. Anti freeze is required for a 2000 3.0L MV6 and a 2001 3.2L MV6, BuyPartsBy say they don't have an apropiate antifreeze for these cars. Also can I use fully synthetic oil on the 3.0L as each supplier is recommending either semi or fully synthetic for it and I'm getting confused ::) quite an easy thing now days :-\

Main thing with anti-freeze is not to mix the different types. Drain, flush & re-fill with what you want ...... those of us that have a Vauxhall will likely use GM long life orange anti-freeze.

You can use either fully synthetic or semi-skimmed, but due the price of GM oil on Trade Club it's not worth leaving fully synthetic in for 20k so again many will change the oil every 5k (at most) and so use semi-skimmed  :)

What he says above.

Possibly worth trying to avoid OAT type coolants...?

Many thanks for clearing up on those points, dunno why the motor factors are sending mixed messages about the products they are selling, i.e in relation to the anti freeze issue.. Halfrauds have a message on their site saying to go too my local store and one of their 'experienced staff will advise me on the correct product' ;D ;D yeah what ever!!! why would I do that?? when all the info and advice you would ever need is here and only a post away :y :y
