Title: radio
Post by: pauls on 03 January 2014, 22:27:31
Went to work and back yesturday all ok. Started car this morning radio and display all lit up as normal. But then relised no sound and not showing anything on the display. Drove to work work turned off engine and the radio and display wouldnt turn off. I had to remove fuse 12 to get it to turn off. Left it for a couple of hours and put the fuse back in and it all worked fine. Any ideas please i think its probably just a gremlin.

If it's the 2006 then I'd say it's a gremlin. They do have some funny turns  ;D

Remove the radio for a couple of hours and refit

This often does a hard reset - a bit like rebooting windows on a computer   ;)

I had the same problem with my radio (CCR 2006) except that after putting the fuse back the radio and display gets lit up again and the radio doesn't function at all. I tried to switch it off manually by pressing the power knob but in vain. Since it happened I am forced to remove the fuse every time I leave the car for longer to prevent battery discharge.
I would remove the radio to do a hard reset - as Dave suggests, but don't have the required keys.
Any ideas on where to buy the removal tools or find a car audio service?  Please help  :'(

You can get the keys anywhere - net, Halfords, etc.
if you add your location to your profile, then someone may be able to help?

My location is Trowbridge, Wiltshire. Profile updated.
Some time ago I bought a pair of removal keys on eBay, but they didn't work, although were advertised as intended for this type of radio (CCR 2006).
Any suggestion on car audio service available?

If you have cheapo removal keys, try careful filing to get "sharp" tangs at the end - this should help. :y

If like mine I tried with several sets of keys and it just would not come out. If it does need to come out it will have to be with a hammer and chisel. >:(
