Evening all! ;D
My son is hoping to swap the xenon headlights from my old dead 2.2 CDX saloon into a 2.2 CD which has non xenons at the moment. Is it a straightforward swap or more involved? Your help/comments as always, will be very gratefully received!
Ta muchly :y

No, its ALOT more involved.
Basic unit will fit to the car but that's all. Nothing else will work, bulbs won't fit, no wiring for hids, no level sensors, no ecu, no washers.
But apart from that....

Piece of proverbial to retrofit Phil

Dead easy. Use the height adjustment motors from the CD and you'll need the brown and yellow (iirc) loom and plug from the cdx which requires soldering to the CD loom :y

Sorry, thought the hid function was wanted. :-[ :D

Once again .. confusion over headlights .... "Xenon" does not always mean HIDs, "projectors" does not always mean HIDs ... folks need to be accurate when discussing headlights ... 3 types on Omegas
Ordinary lenses with incandescent bulbs
Projector lenses with incandescent bulbs
Projector lenses with HID ("arc") bulbs
Xenon is an inert gas that can be used to fill all three types of bulb .. there is no such thing as a "xenon headlight" per se
So .. to the OP .. just what are you trying to do ?? :)

Yes, looking at transplanting the HID's from my dead CDX into a CD that has basic Projectors as standard. Sorry for any & all Sins and Omissions :-[ ;)

Zenons, or hids on omega.
The cd does not have hids, so it's NOT a straight swap.
You can NOT achieve Hid function on a non hid car by simply swapping the headlights. You need all the other gubbins as well.

There are two steps to doing this ......
1) Fit the headlights with the brown/yellow wiring mod as Pete says. The quality of the joint is ESSENTIAL here - reason being that although the HID takes less current when it is up and running, it takes significantly more current when it's switched on. I'm not just talking about the inrush current - but the current taken during the first minute or so. It jumps upto about 20 amps, and then gradually reduces to about 3.5 when everything settles down. Hence the need for decent quality connections.
2) Levelling/washers etc
Step 2 is often overlooked ........
