Title: coffee
Post by: pauls on 11 January 2014, 10:51:31
I drink a lot of coffee durring the day mainly because i dont like water or tea. My question is is it the coffee or the caffine that is bad for you.

I do the same.

Medical opinion has always been that too much caffeine is bad for you but in small amounts is good for you. You could try alternating with decaffeinated coffee. It is what I do. You could also try water with a dash of lime or similar.

If coffee is so bad for you then why do the french have one of the best health ratings in the world despite drinking shed-loads of the stuff?

I drink loads of decaf where I have a low tolerance of caffeine. Decaf is not caffeine free, just much, much lower than normal coffee. From what I have read there are about 1000 different chemicals in coffee, but the overall effect is beneficial, and although tea has a different set of chemicals again the overall effect again is beneficial.

I drink quite a lot of coffee, especially first thing and have recently switched to black coffee as I suspect I may be lactose intolerant.  :-\

There is also more caffeine in tea than in coffee ::)

If you drink alot of strong coffee with milk/sugar, then perhaps try slightly weaker black coffee, with less/no sugar... :-\

I used to drink shed loads. I now have swapped for water. I now feel pretty crap if I haven't had a few pints of water in a day. Weird.

Interesting. I always wondered why we're programmed to enjoy processed sugary and fatty foods, over natural meet fruit and veg.
