Title: Rear camber adjustment theory question

Hi guys,

Pulled rear springs and dampers off an old (N reg.?) Ford Mondeo today. I had to remove the whole lower arm and lower the spring out. in doing so where the lower arm attached to the subframe I found an eccentric cam washer thingy which I'm told is to adjust rear camber.

Well how on Earth does that work as essentially it was just an off centre washer. Do you tighten the bolt and then force the cam around to adjust?  :-\

never seen this set up before

Does the cammed washer run in between a pair of posts or in a recess at all? If not, are you sure it's not also a cammed bolt? That's the setup the Mk3 MR2 used for rear camber and you could guarantee it would be a nightmare to move every time..

Assuming the subframe hadn't rotted out, of course ;D

Yep it's for the toe, not the camber...... The off-set D-cam washers have a tooth that fit into a female cut out in the through bolts. When turned the washers push/ pull against the horseshoe surround.

Thanks guys. if it's to adjust toe why is it attached to the lower arm that's attached to the hub centrally? Not doubting you obviously but I would have thought the arm would locate at the back or front of the hub as you look at it side on???

Most have been an attempt at some point to adjust the camber. Does the cam have a ledge to push against?
