Possibly, no compression on 2 & 4 possibly from being cooked but unsure without further digging.
Cost of removing head to have a look then repair if needed could well exceed cost of new (second hand) unit.
Hopefully I will be getting a complete engine so a straight swap.
Then I have a complete engine to strip for spares, offset the initial outlay.

Just to let all know, I have decided to purchase a full engine to make the swap easier.

Cost, including delivery and 90 day warranty was £325 :-X

No actually came from an Omega so I was told. Should be on it's way to Scotland just now, I may even see it before I zoom off back to Spain on Thursday.

Well, I didn't see it  :-\

Turns out it was a bare engine  >:( not the "complete from sump to rocker cover" as quoted on the phone >:(

to make matters worse the bl**dy garage didn't bother to tell me! SWMBO went back to scotland the day after I left for work and she told me >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

So, I am covered by the breakeryard dot com money back guarantee, the yard that sold this is saying it was a misunderstanding and that they will take the engineback but they want me to foot the bill for the return courier >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(  Well that's not going to happen, there was no misunderstanding on my part, I asked the chap on the phone if it was indeed a complete engine, yes, he replied then quoted the above statement.
If anything that would make it misleading to a member of the general public who do not normally know how a breakers yard operates.
I have sent my reply to them stating I want them to foot the bill for everything and that's how it stands at the moment.
Soooo,  now I find myself looking for another engine!!  I just wish I had a decent sized garage so I could do the investigation and any remedial work needed or even an engine swap.

Anyone got the required premises in the North East of Scotland???? LOL
