Title: Removal of upper gearbox bolts
Post by: terry paget on 18 January 2014, 15:52:03
OE03 EWW 3.2 petrol manual saloon
Clutch replacement job. I am at the point where I wish to remove all the bellhousing bolts. There are three 19mm bolts at the top to which I have no access. Is it in order to lower the gearbox mounting to gain access to them?

Long time ago now but I think I used 3 wobble bar extensions draped across the bellhousing to reach the socket from underneath the car.

Yes sorry that wasn't very helpful.

As Andy says, withe extensions, and reaching up for a hug. Its tight, but doable. :)

Simple answer - yes (but check that the engine doesn't lean too far back & strain hoses and electrickery)

With the downpipes still attached it probably won't help much though because the exhaust system will prevent the engine from moving far.

Exhaust is removed. I can feel two (19mm?) bolts heads, the third seems to be near the oil cooler pipes. Thanks to all for advice, I will try again.
