There is a metal reprocessing plant next to my work, and its interesting to see all the cars being turned into scrap. Last week there were 3 BMW's, several Audi's and even a W reg Vectra. Its a bit of a shame to see cars that look basically OK, being scrapped. Just 5 mins ago an R reg Miggy got brought in :'( :'( :'( It looks quite clean, I couldn't see the model, but it had the spoiler on the boot (elite?). About to be reduced to a pile of metal strips, for export to China no doubt.

May have been lifted by the Police or Council for no tax, parking fines and then non payment etc, they just send em to be crashed.
I reckon that's this governent hidden green policy. If it's older than march 2001 then Tax it to the hilt or get it off the road by what ever means possible.

:o what a waste, was it pre facelift or facelift?
I bet its quite interesting to watch, do you get to see the process? :y

It was an R Reg, I think pre facelift. I see the basic stripping and removal of fluids, wheels, but the shells get taken over to the other side and disappear, only to be replaced by metal strips. A lot of noise !!. I've just seen a chap drive up in an M reg Frontera, engine going fine, lots of power, only to park it in the destruction section. What a waste. :'( :'(
Mind you some funny bits, they had some 4*4 thing up on the 4 post ramp emptied out the oil, and lowered it. Only they forgot to remove the drum and filler they use to collect sump oil, and its quite strong, so they ended up with this car down at the back but held up at the front !. THey had to do some careful maneovering with a JCB type "thingy" to get it down ! ;D ;D
