Hi all,
The door lock on the drivers door stuck in the down position today, it may have been because it was cold and I need more grease and I managed to get it to flick up and close the door.
2 questions
1. Until I can get a new (used) door lock then what tips can you give me to allow me to use the drivers door, as I climbed out the passenger side today at work because I didn't want the hassle again. WD40, Grease,
2. When I get the new door lock how easy it to fit, do I have to remove the door card?

If anybody could help me with it then theres certainly some money or beer in it for them :)
Thanks
Alex

Unlock with key, you will have to be very firm, and the "door lock" or pin may not pop up, but you will be able to open the door. ...and the alarm may go off. Which is normal.
Guide in maintenance ;)

Hi Alex,
I'm not a mechanic by any standard and a fellow OOfer was good enough to show me how to change one of these recently as mine was totally shot!!
Follow the guide to take the door card off. Peel back the plastic carefully to gain access inside the door itself.
Undo the 3 torx bolts on the face of the door slam panel.
Undo the 2 bolts inside the door holding the outer door handle in position
You will see, just, tiny little plastic lugs on the metal rods where they connect to the lock mech. These just push off and rotate out of the way.
Unhook the rods from the motor and withdraw, unplugging the solenoid electrical plug!
It is fiddly, but it will work!!
HTH's :y

Its probably not a lock you need but a locking motor some call it a solenoid. easy to fit with door card off.

Hi guys,
I mean when I open the door the little metal latch that is supposed to be open if you actually look at the where the lock in the door meets the body of the car is actually stuck in the down or locked position,
So if you tried to close the door at that moment it would simply bouce off the car as the latch is in the closed position, does that make sense?
I am gonna squirt some WD40 in there and hope thats ok for abit
