Hi. My 2.2 dti makes a loud screechy noise, that appears to follow the turbo. Although it has no EML and it seems to boost as it should. I have changed the turbo, downpipe gasket and manifold gasket, and it still makes the same noise... :-\
The pipes to and from the intercooler look free from splits or oily marks from an air leak, as does the intercooler. Does anybody know of any common problems that cause this? Or a way to pressurise the inlet to find out?
Thankyou in advance.

Landrover TD5's do this when the inlet manifold warps slightly causing a small boost leak, maybe something similar occurring here ???

My zafira 2.0 dti used to make that noise, never could find out what it was.

After something of an epiphany, I used the compressor to pressurise the inlet and a screech came from the inlet side, poured water on it and the inlet manifold gasket bubbled...

Excellent guess, Henryd... :D
-
Whats caused it to do that ?
-
Admittedly, last time I cleaned the swirl block, I was given the wrong gasket so I reused the old one... a new one on order from the stealership for tomorrow...
-
Well at least i now know what it was :y

Excellent guess, Henryd... :D
Result,lets hope it is that :y :y

Got a gasket, £6.64 from the stealers... what a difference. No screech, no vibration at low revs under power, no flat spot at 1500 rpm, no smoke, quieter... :D
