My Misses has been made redundant recently and our insurance renewal came through the other day. So, I went online (as the renewal was the usual joke). Now the only thing that has changed apart from getting another years no claims bonus for her, is the fact that she is now unemployed! The difference for just stating that difference a staggering £200 odd >:( >:( >:( >:( :( :( :(
Complete and utter joke! I went back in the quote and amended the policy to her having a job and it reduced by the £200???
I know where shes off to Monday morning - Job Centre :D :D :D
-
I say sir, isn't that a case of Frud, by saying that. :)

Eh??? :-\ :-\ :-\
-
Its not legal.
-
What isn't?
-
Obtaining goods or services by means of deception...
Is, I think, what Biggriffin was aluding to :-\
-
And who is doing that???? Certainly not me! All I said was that the quote is a rip off just because of a change of circumstance i.e. losing your job, your insurance goes up by £200. Never said anything about BUYING just QUOTING! Not worth my job!
-
I think Biggriffin, just ment it as toung in cheek remark.Given your job. :y
-
Just because youve lost your Job, does't necessary mean your Unemployed, you could be Self Employed the following day, starting up your new Business or Sub Contracting your services until such time something else comes along. ;)

Not suggesting owt :y
Merely clarify BGs observation is all :y

Ah, sorry..... Just got up after nights head still spinning :D :D :D
Another Q..... How can a 58 plate Discovery 3 be £180 cheaper to insure that my bloomin Skoda??? My brain hurts :-[ :-[ :-\ :-\
Still got the 4x4 bug and looking......again.
-
Put the misses down as a house wife instead of unemployed :y

The Skoda, being older, with relatively pricey parts, is more likely to be subjuct to a total loss claim...
-
Said it for years and have no reason to change my mind.... The insurance companies just think of a number and double it. Bunch of thieving robbing bas...........!!
-
Put her down has a conservative MP :y I think its free then :y

Not at all.
But if he had purchased under that pretence, yes. He did not. Merely a quote. Nothing wrong with that at all.
-
A fine line perhaps :-\ especially given the line of employment... ::)

Nope, he might be finding out how much his insurance would change if made redundant/changing job/changing car/or any other change of circumstance.
Where is the law that says a policeman or anyone else can't get a quote on a potential change of circumstances?
That's what quoting is for. It might be open to abuse if people lie and purchase based on that lie, and it might also reveal some ridiculous price changes based on those changes in circumstances.
But what BG appears to be suggesting is a Copper can't quote on a change in circumstances, either current or future.

Fair point, well made :y

Why the F should it make any difference if your employed or not. ::) :-\ They are all just robbing bar stewards >:( >:(
-
There is that ::)

I guess the excuse will be, they have some statistic that says the unemployed are more likely to claim.
Where as a housewife is not. I wonder is there a househusband option?

Kevin is right about them being scam artists...example. just got my renewal for a 3.2 with Privilege insurance, last year was £225 and this year £319, so I called them and asked them how come the big increase? All I got was a load of b******t!! about last year was an introductory premium blah! blah! ::) ::) so I reminded them that I have four cars on risk with them and a platinum house insurance policy, and bosh £229 was the result :-\
I did say that if they try that again on any other of the renewals, then I'll be taking some other companies introductory offers and cutting Privilege loose pretty quick as there are so many good deals out there.:-\

Heard on the radio today that insurance companies are saying that most peoples premiums will come down by £40 at next renewal as due to crackdowns on whiplash claims and costs of legal fees they've saved some money and will pass these savings on to customers.Should prove interesting in the coming months!!

Not in my experience they're not! My renewal has just arrived on the mat to tell me they want an EXTRA £51 this year, no wonder the dog chewed it before it hit the ground! :D ;D

I heard that too, also thought that it is now recognised that we all shop around each year and they say that cheaper and cheaper quotes are not sustainable; I have not paid an increase, on like for like, for some years........ ;) ;)

Had a quote last week from the AA for my old 2l CD which was scrapped in August last year. Shouldn.t it be be on
their data base somewhere? Damn sight cheaper than my Desmond though. :'(
