£103.21........Too much I say.
Well, as a valued customer we'd like to offer you a 15% discount. How about £86.88.
Still too much. I haven't needed to call the AA out for 5 years.
That's true. £75.00
Sorry, but Still too much, and more than I paid last year.
She goes away for a chat with her supervisor. Two minutes later she's back.
£57.20. I'm sorry Mr Opti but that really is the best we can do.
I accepted this quote as it's £15 less than last year, and I've also been upgraded to ' AA Gold Membership' whatever that means. :y :y
So the moral of the story is this. Don't be a lazy bastard because a quick phone call can save you the best part of £50. :y

Whilst I find the AA service to be good (much better than the RAC), I still think they are terribly overpriced. I tend to buy AA policies via topcashback so that brings down the price of a £100+ policy by £40 to 50. And because they dont let you renew with cashback, I alternate the years that I have AA cover with something like GEM assist (which by the way are excellent).

Have full AA cover through a bank account, always excellent service :y
-
Hm.. I feel less good about my renewal now - I added Amy on to my cover and then got them to knock enough off that it went back to what I was paying for just me; £140 (roadside and relay)..
Then again having used them twice last year, I think I got my monies worth!
-
Just got mine £39.87 with all the extras through the council (employee perk) only snag its the car thats covered not me (Fleet)
-
I'm with the RAC, both the other half and myself covered for home start and nationwide recovery in any car. £13 per month. I reckon that's pretty good.

I used to be with the RAC. ::) I'd advise you keep a full survival kit with at least a weeks rations in the car, as you'll need it due to the eons they take to turn up when you're stranded! :(
Bastards! >:(

When you own an Omega full AA membership with every possible option is absolutely essential !
Trust me I know ! I pay a huge amount every year, and really get my moneys worth, particularly from the Relay service ;D
-
Yep, I have had full AA membership for years, which has now been upgraded to "Gold", and they have been great when I have needed help out on he road, or had a flat battery or two at home. Well worth the money for piece of mind. :y :y :y :y :y
With a company car I once had RAC cover; it was no where near as good!
I have also just gone back to the AA from Direct Line for my comprehensive cover. I will save a staggering £400+ over the next year!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :y :y :y :y :y

This is a good tip! Thanks D :y :y :y
I'm with Covermybreakdown.com who are very cheap, £38 for full cover, but you pay a £40 excess if you call them out! So not so cheap if you use them more than once. ::) So as I'm back in the Omega I'm going to change. ;)

You're wasting your money, Sir Tig.
I've yet to hear of an Omega proving unreliable for it's owner.
Vauxhall's finest simply doesn't break down. :)

I'll counter this, I used to be a member and the RAC were with me very quickly the three or four times I needed them. All around the country too, so it can't just be geographical luck...

I always have the same annual fight with renewing AA. I know the sort of percenatges I can get off. Surely nowbody pays the standard renewal rate :o
RAC, worse wait I had was about 6hrs. Not a happy bunny.

I do hope that your tongue was firmly in your cheek with that ! ::) ::)

Name me one person on this forum who has had the slightest trouble with their Omega, Rog?. I'll wager that you can't find one..... ::) ::) ::) :)

My experience over just one year. 3 call outs. Quickest one was just over 90 minutes. the other two I was officially quoted times of 4 hours and 6 hours. When I asked if this was acceptable for a breakdown organisation, they just mumbled something about how busy they were. Never again!
Edited to add: The AA always got to me within 60 minutes. Still feel they are too expensive and I cannot be arsed to negotiate.

I was with the AA over 28 years .. but now with Greenflag.. and would not even think of going back to the AA... which is now a purely commercial organisation owned by an equity group that includes SAGA it its portfolio.
"Saga was acquired by staff (20%) backed the private equity firm Charterhouse in 2004. Saga merged with The AA (owned by CVC and Permira) to form Acromas Holdings. Acromas is approx 20% owned by staff, 35% Charterhouse, 20% Permira, 20% CVC and 5% others."
The original "ideals" have long since been thrown in the bin ..
"The Automobile Association (The AA) is a British motoring association founded in 1905, which was demutualised in 1999 to become a private limited company which currently provides car insurance, driving lessons, breakdown cover, loans, motoring advice and other services. Following demutualisation the AA Motoring Trust was created in 2002 to continue its public interest and road safety activities. In 2007 the AA merged with Saga Group to form Acromas Holdings."

I care not about the company. I care about a little man in a orange/yellow/green/whatever van getting his arse out to me when I need him to. Esp with Mrs TB doing a decent commute up the motorway every day.
