Ever since owning the cabby,clutch pedal has always been very high and biting point very near the top of pedal travel,so was planning on changing clutch,how ever,since fitting the 17's i had to pull out of a junction and booted it ,since i have done that,ive had to readjust clutch pedal back down to where it should be and biting point is about 1/3 of the way up from the floor,how and why has this happened? Cable is manual adjustment on hex bolt on pedal.

Ford self adjusting clutches are a bit of a misnomer ::)
Should have been called randomly adjusting clutch ;D

No auto adjustment on mine,as manual with hex bolt at top of pedal :y

Unusual, I always recall a wanky plastic ratchet unit at the top of the clutch pedal that used to wear and casue random bite positions before finaly throwing in the towel and resulting in no clutch release (although often accompanied with a delightly clicking noise not diss-similar to that you get from a cable tie when you tighten it up).
Any drive shaft play yet?, speedo jumping up and down at low speed? (or is it the later electronic speedo which does not give you fore warning of the diff bearings going for a burton ;D)
I often wonder if the Escort I welded a keep left sign onto the floor pan of to get it through the MOT is still around (hopefuly not!)

All drives ok,i think it might have been some crap stuck on something,and when i booted it it cleared it,ever since ive had the cabby,ive never booted it that hard before.

Plus Fiesta's (Mk2 onwards) and Escorts (Mk3 onwards).
I always recall a friend who used to have a large screwdriver in his Cortina so he could change gear when ever the gear lever came away in his (frequently!)

A side effect of replacing the spline bolts with whatever was to hand following a clutch change... ::)

My Capri gearstick came off all the time :D ;D I did manage to fix it after i tried to sell it and the stick came off when the buyer test drove it :-X

Happened to me more than once, usually just as I was changing up to second after a boy racer start ;D
