Start level 3 transmission next week after our chassis exam.
To warm us up they got us getting drive shafts out. Nice 'n' easy. Did mine on a Golf and I've never seen this design before... has 6 securing nuts on a flange that bolt to the gearbox casing....think prop shaft to gearbox on omega....
Flange is right hand side end..

Standard this end...

Got me thinking....with the DS's connected to the rear on the omega whats the procedure for removing/replacing these? the FWD ones are easy cos you can pivot the hub out of the way once the lower balljoint, tie rod end and axle splines disconnected. :-\

Piece of piss ;D
Undo the six bolts on the hub flange and pull :y
If you want a challenge you can leave the wheel on ;D

Interesting! Thanks boys. So exactly the same design for the Omega! :y
The Fords I've done it on are just pull out from gearbox with only a clip to overcome.

Where's the smack head smiley when you need it ::)
Omega the same... the bolts are on the wheel end ::)
MK2 Granadas had six bolts each end of the shaft, which were prone to breaking if you put a bit too much torque through the diff :-X

Ah, I was surprised you see cos I'd never seen them like that before....obviously this isn't a new idea then :)
