Title: WANTED - ABS ECU.
Post by: Kate on 31 January 2014, 16:14:13
Hi all.

I need an ABS ECU asap to get my speedometer working for the MOT in March. It's for a W reg (2000) 3.0.

Does anyone have one for sale please please please? :-*

Part number not a lot of use depending on several factors ... you need one from the same model year, engine and configuration...  so

2000, 3.0ltr, saloon or estate ??, manual or auto??

If you get those boxes all ticked, then the replacement will work on fit .. if anything is different, it will need a Tech2 session to configure the ECU to the car ...

HTH  :)

Not far from Croydon or Caterham.

I drive through there 3 times a week on average :y

Alton :y just down the M3/A31, about 45 mins from you, but nearer than sunny Brackers and TB :y

Warlingham is, iirc, between Croydon and Caterham :-\

Should be suitable... someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly :y

The bit in question is the plug and box above it in the first pic :y

How easy are they to remove?

Not easy with the engine in the way. :(

If you take the engine out first then it will be a whole lot easier  ;)

IIRC 2.6/3.2 ABS ecu is not interchangeable with 2.5/3.0

Not even with programming  :-\ thought all 3.0 and 2.6/3.2s had TC...

I found a guy on ebay who breaks omegas. He said he would need the part number but I don't have the confidence to start dismantling the engine. :o

Is there any other way of finding out?

Would a Vauxhall dealer be able to tell me?

It's a bit complicated as some people think that even having the part number isn't enough. ::)

All V6 have TC but the 2.5/3.0 has 3 channel ABS (left front, right front & rear axle) whereas the 2.6/3.2 has 4 channel ABS (1 for each wheel).

2.6/3.2 TC can operate the brakes independently on the rear wheels (which I think is the main reason they fitted vented rear discs because they get pretty hot pretty quick if you are trying to drag yourself out of wet grass).

So no, they are not interchangeable.

just to agree with what Andy says .. from my old copy of the EPC ..

 5  -UNIT, CONTROL, ABS (INCLUDES GASKET AND SCREWS) (BOSCH 1273004205) 20SE, X20SE, X20XEV, U25TD, X25TD W1000001-  9117173
5  -UNIT, CONTROL, ABS (INCLUDES GASKET AND SCREWS) (BOSCH 1273004205) X20DTH   9117173
  5  -UNIT, CONTROL, ABS (BOSCH 1273004207) 20SE, X20SE, X20XEV, X20DTH, U25TD, X25TD   9192237
  5  -UNIT, CONTROL, ABS (BOSCH 1273004230) (NLS.- USE 9198884 ) Y26SE, Y32SE, Y25TD   (9193480)
  5  -UNIT, CONTROL, ABS (BOSCH 1273004206) X25XE, X30XE W1000001-  9117171

so 4 possible part numbers :

9117173, 9192237, 9198884 (which replaces 9194380) and 9117171 ....

booger .. hadn't finished typing ...

was going to say ....

It looks from that as if the 3.0 can only use part number 9117171

at least that's how I read it ..  :-\

Don't get too hung up about matching the part number if you find an ABS ECU from a car with same engine/gearbox and same year.
